Methadone is a rigorously well tested medication that is safe and efficacious for the treatment of narcotic withdrawal and dependence. For more than 30 years this synthetic narcotic has been used to treat opioid addiction. Heroin releases an excess of dopamine in the body and causes users to need an opiate continuously occupying the opioid receptor in the brain. Methadone occupies this receptor and is the stabilizing factor that permits addicts on methadone to change their behavior and to discontinue heroin use.
Kings View has proudly provided methadone detox and Maintenance services for over 28 years and has touched the lives of thousands of addicts and their families. We currently offer both Detox and Maintenance services in Tulare County.
Based on the level of use and the addiction some clients may require only a 21 day detox program. For clients needing a more intensive detox program we can design a program based on their individual needs
Methadone Maintenance treatment programs provide the opiate addicted with individualized health care and longer term, medically prescribed methadone to relieve withdrawal symptoms, reduce the opiate craving, and brings about a biochemical balance in the body.
Multi-disciplinary staff includes M.D., Pharmacist, Nurses and Certified Addiction Specialist/Counselors, who provide assessment, medication management, group and individual counseling, and referral to ancillary services as needed.
To get on the methadone maintenance or detox program call KVSAP-TC at 559-688-7531 to set up an appointment time with the Medical Director. That appointment usually happens about in about three business days. At that appointment you’ll submit a urine specimen, have blood drawn for the laboratory, and have a physical examination. After that is done you can be admitted to the program and receive your first dosage of methadone. Within the next week you’ll see your counselor for an intake interview.
